The Beginnings of NaNo 2o12

So...this is basically my keep-along thing. Seeing as how I'm handwriting/typewriting/typing my ENTIRE novel, this is the place for anyone interested to see how I'm doing. I'll post my word count, how the plot is, what I'm eating, anythin n everything here ^-^

A little distracted .... oops!

Well, I guess I got a little busy this summer because I 90% forgot about this blog. I didn't get far in camp for June, so I'm going to use August as a planning month.

Currently, I have...nothing planned.

Although, instead of planning the story, I'm just going to be doing a lot of research because the main point of the story is self harm, abuse, and drinking.

I want to get a lot of first-hand stories, as well as quotes and facts. I know it won't be hard, but the content of the story will be.

I haven't thought much on the actual plot, but I know that I want it to be about the MC finding themselves and who they truly are. The setting will probably be in a rehab center, and there will be a lot of side characters with different issues.

This might be the novel that makes it to 50k. Because I connect with it on such a personal, and emotional, level.

8 Days :)

Just a little over a week until the June Camp NaNo begins. I'm getting really excited to finish up this story as it has been in my head since I started it my second time of ever doing NaNoWriMo.

I'm not 100% sure of where I'm going to begin, or if I'm even going to start where I left off. But I do know that it is going to be pants'd...majorly.

Not that there is anything wrong with that, but this just feels like the kind of novel that really needs to be planned.

Anywho. I'm now graduated from high school and so I have plenty of time to figure out the kinks and such in it. Who else is participating in camp for either months??

Synopsis for June camp novel

The lovely Jade wrote me a synopsis for my story next month and I decided to share it with you.

Heaven and Hell have been struggling for eons, looking to gain the upper hand, waiting for a sign, when, lo and behold, each get a sign, at the same time. Two destined warriors come of age in the same year. And luckily for Heaven and hell (though unluckily for our heroes), they are best friends. So the heavens and the dark pit devise a plan to bring them to the front lines, too bad they have to die for that to happen. Now the friends, secretly still in love with each other, are forced back onto earth in half-dead forms, forced to survive by means of caress or murder, in order to seek the other out and kill their foe. But can either actually go through with killing the one they love?

Feel free to find Jade's blog here.

Q&A with Jade Bennet

Q : So, Jade, when did you first realize you wanted to write professionally?
A : Probably when I was around 16. I've been writing stories since I learned cursive. But I never realized how much I wanted to make people fall in love with my stories until  I really hit adolesence

Q : Do you usually plan out your stories, or do you “pants” them?
A : They all start as a "pants" deal, but once I write a little, I can't help but plan. Not that I actually follow the plan one hundred percent, ever... But I find it really comforting to have an idea of the direction I'm going in.

Q : So, is it usually just a brief "I think this is where it's going" plan?
A : Uh, usually yes, but for this particular project I've been working on an annoyingly extensive outline. Like, it's already ten pages and it's only 6 chapters in. It in no way began like this. It started as "dragons are pretty awesome", and then I pantsed five chapters. Now I find myself rewriting the first chapters already and I've created this huge monster of an idea.

Q : What is Dragon Runners about exactly?
A : The basic concept is that only people with royal blood are able to tame dragons, and they're also called "Dragon Runners" (a little joke in my head about how they can run beside them without getting stepped on). Anyway, so it's been that way forever. Royals come of age - 18 - and a baby dragon is born. The first thing the hatchling sees is their "master" or "partner", however you'd like to define it, and then the dragon is named. It creates a bond. However, everything kind of goes haywire when a mere serving girl stumbles upon a dragon egg of her very own.

Q : Ooh, sounds interesting :D How long have you been working on it?
A : Well, I got the idea in the beginning of Aprile, four weeks back. But I've only been working on it for about two weeks now

Q : Do you have any big plot twists planned for this wonderful novel of yours?
A : Oddly, I don't. I usually have several huge plot twists looming on the horizon but I haven't been able to figure out how to properly make the reader's head spin in this story.... yet.

Q : So you like to do multiple plot twists? What's the usual amount for one story?
A : Haha, usually only 2-3, but I remember when I was little I had a story where it was just constant plot twists, like a soap opera. I'm trying to tone it down though.

Q : Yeah, soap opera stories aren't as fun to read as they are to watch. What is the genre you typically write?
A : Fantasy, all the way. I'm a huge fantasy nerd.

Q : What's your least favorite to write?
A : Non-fiction. I find nothing more boring than real life. I've always been a daydreamer; there's a reason for that.

Q : Ick, I agree. So, how often do you usually write within a week?
A : I try and write a little bit every day. It doesn't always happen that way but it's important to flex the writing muscle.

Q : Is there a certain person that influenced you to begin writing and flexing that lovely writing muscle?
A : Not that I can remember. I've always just loved it. I was, however, influcenced to try and publish and share my writing because of wonderful authors that I loved as a teenager, like Holly Black, JK Rowling, and Shannon Hale. Oh, and Heather Dixon!

Q : That's great that you have always enjoyed it ^-^ too many people are interested in just the money. On that note, You have one hour to write about anything you chose. What is your topic of choice?
A : Oh crap, that's a toughie. I have a lot of loves right now, and currently dragons ranks pretty high.... but I'm going to go ahead and say either fae or modern magic.

Q : Oh, those are the best kinds of things to read about <3 One last question, If you could meet one of your character in real life, who would it be? What is their personality like?
A : Huh, another tough one. I'm going to say Ein, from my Mechanical Maladies series. He's a bit rough around the edges, and he ABHORS pocket watches, but he's a stand-up guy.

Me : He sounds quite interesting. :D  I'm glad to have had the chance to ask you about all these wonderful things and I hope everything goes great with Dragon Runners :D
Jade : Well thank you. I look forward to seeing how it develops, myself!

June Camp NaNo and Jade Bennet

So, it's that time of the year again. It's time to pull out the tent stakes and marshmallows. Yep, that's right. June is coming up soon and CampNaNo will begin once again. :D
I have decided to work on the novel I have planned for June, also in August so I can get as many words in as possible.
This is what I have come up with so far.

"A curse was placed on the MC many years ago and they were told they would only be able to die a specific way. But they were not told how. Since then, the MC has made it their life goal to achieve this death. But with thousands of ways to die, how in the world will they do it?
Years pass and the MC slowly ages while everyone they know and love dies off around them. As they begin to feel lonely, the MC decides to take desperate measures to find their death. They begin a quest to find the one that cursed them, and finally, rest in peace."

It isn't much, but I'm only trying to get the basics of the story down. Trey has agreed to help me out when I get stuck so it will be sort of a couple project. <3

Now, onto the person mentioned in the title of this post. Jade Bennet. This is an amazing girl with a strong will to get her writing out into the world. I am constantly hearing about her adventures into rewriting and queries.

I've decided to do a little Q&A with her, which I will post later on tomorrow.

If you would like to check her out, feel free to follow this amazing link into her world. <3

My Past Week

This past week has been extremely eventful. It was Spring Break so I was out alllll week :D

It started last Saturday when I had the invitational track meet. I ended up beating my school's pole vault record by 2 inches :D I ran around the field screaming and yelling. I've been trying to do that for the past 2 years.

After the meet, I went to get Trey from his house and Jamie, Tara, Kat, Jesse, Trey, and I went camping. <3 While I was sitting in the campground parking lot with Trey, waiting on Jamie, cops pulled up and asked to see our ids. They kept asking if I had beer and kept warning to not be loud or we'd have to leave. They were extremely rude >.<

After camping overnight, we realized my car wouldn't start so Kat and I walked around the camp ground asking/waking people up to ask if they had any jumper cables. We ended up walking to the RV section of the grounds and found some guys on a golf cart that had some.

Once I got Trey home, I tried to leave but my car wouldn't start. Turns out one of my battery cables is loose that the other was so corroded, that the connection kept breaking >.<

But his dad fixed it enough to get me home.

Then for the weekdays I didn't do too much except for work on my senior scrapbook that's due May 8 and is basically my whole Enlgish semester grade D:

This past Friday and Saturday was the Section 1A/2A track meet. On Friday I ran the 4x1, and 100m hurdles. Laura showed up and stole my brownies D: I also had to skip dinner that Friday night because I can't weigh over 110lbs for my pole vault pole and I was weighing 109.8 >.<

Saturday, I vaulted [and weighed 106.7! :D], 100m hurdle finals, and the 4x4. I vault 8'6" [my best is 8'8" (the school record now)] and placed second in both the hurdles and 4x4. <3

Trey stayed over Friday so he could come to the meet Saturday. Jamie and Laura also showed up Saturday to watch me.

I had to take Trey home Saturday night to his family friend's house and we ended up staying there until midnight and his mom asked if I had the gas to get back to their house and to my house in the morning because she didn't want me to drive home so late. So I stayed at his house Saturday.

On Sunday, we laid around and watched movies and played video games. I also introduced him to the world of Dinosaur and Pig and Nigahiga on youtube. <3

Oh! And we figured out what I was gonna write for June CampNaNo. He's going to help me out when I get stuck, so hopefully a fresh mind will give me ideas when I get stuck. :D
